Americans need to take a leaf out of Europe’s handbook and travel by train more frequently, but this time of year is absolutely stunning and hits the wheels!
New York, the world’s most famous city, is one such area, stretching all the way to the French border and beyond.
In fact, as you travel through the East Coast’s fall glory to Canada’s most social capital on Amtrak’s Adirondack Train this fall, the Big Apple is where you should start your spectacular trip.

Prepare to leave behind the vibrant lights of the city and take advantage of everything the drop has to offer when you leave the famed Penn Station.
Central Park is great and all, but delay ‘ till you see what Amtrak’s ‘ Adirondack ‘ way has in business!
No matter which desk class you choose, you’ll take a comfortable train that has completely WiFi and offers meals, snacks, and beverages.
After passing Queens and Poughkeepsie, the landscape considerably shifts when you arrive at the’ Hudson ‘ quit.
The famous Hudson Valley serves as a gateway to the mesmerizing Hamptons as well as a display of a dash of autumn hues.

When you pass Hudson Station, your next halt is Albany, New York’s capital city. Some sites are more beautiful this year than the Green Mountain State, so many people choose to stay in Vermont.

Beyond the river lies a set of ancient cities, such as Saratoga Springs and Ticonderoga, before reaching the border area of Plattsburgh.
The first beholds one of America’s most underrated historic places, all while enjoying the striking views of Lake Champlain.
Fort Ticonderoga, a former French castle, endured a turbulent history throughout numerous war before being overrun by the British in the late 1700s.

Previous Stop: Montreal, Canada’s Most Cultural City
When you’ve reached Plattsburgh, it’s time to achieve for your card. Particularly if you’re visiting a well-known area like Montreal, crossing into Canada should be simple.
Upon crossing our northern friend’s border, there are 2 stops left on the case before your vacation comes to an end:
- St-Lambert, QC
- Montreal, QC – Gare Centrale / Central Station
Both prevents are in Montreal, but they are on two different paths faces. Okay, enough jokes…
If you’re looking for a central place, it’s best to find off at Gare Centrale. You’ll be smack dab in Montreal’s bustling city center, which has great eats ( like Joe Beef ), beautiful architecture, and beaming parks with bright foliage.
The Adirondack Train leaves from New York’s Penn Station at 8:35 am and arrives at Montreal’s Gare Central at 10:15 pm only in time to check into your hotel and unwind from the wonders of this French-inspired area.
