Post Foods celebrated 85 years of producing Shreddies grain right in the heart of Niagara Falls with a major milestone. The factory at 5651 Lewis Avenue, which is just minutes from Clifton Hill, has been a significant part of Niagara Falls ‘ professional history, supporting the company’s continued production of this adored cereal and making a significant contribution to the neighborhood.
Commisso’s New Foods hosted an occasion to acknowledge Post Foods ‘ tradition, where Rocky Commisso, chairman of the food company, praised the factory for being” such a large part of the community”. The distinctive aroma of newly made grain that frequently wanders from the herb is well known to some local residents, especially those who live or travel in the Clifton Hill area.
Mayor Jim Diodati and MPP Wayne Gates attended the event, presenting certificates of identification to Mike Knapp, the plant’s producer. In Niagara Falls, where schoolchildren did visit the manufacturer for trips and receive samples of Shreddies and additional products, vividly recalls Daiodati growing up. The close proximity of the flower to Clifton Hill, the teeming pleasure city of Niagara Falls, adds another layer of relation for both locals and tourists.

A Mill in Niagara Falls with Serious Roots
The Post Foods flower, originally established in 1904, has stood at its Lewis Avenue site for over a decade, less than a five-minute push from Clifton Hill. In addition to Shreddies, the mill produces Shredded Wheat and other well-known materials, employing around 170 individuals. Mike Knapp expressed his appreciation for the success of the plant and its honorable contribution to the production of staple grains that residents and visitors alike adore.

Community Partnerships and Help
One of the most impressive elements of the occasion was how committed Post Foods and Commisso’s New Foods have been to serving the area. Inspired by Mayor Diodati’s new Instagram post about the company’s celebration, Commisso’s decided to connect the occasion to their future brochure featuring Shreddies. This partnership highlights the significance of local firms in Niagara Falls supporting one another.
Both businesses regularly donate money to Project Share, a neighborhood foods lender that helps people in want. Since 2010, Post Foods has donated over 137, 000 kilograms of grain to the firm, helping maintain families and children have access to healthy meals. Commisso’s also contributes frequently by giving non-sellable but still ingested items, ensuring little goes a waste.
Project Share’s activities director, Jo Low, emphasized the importance of these efforts, especially during back-to-school period when wheat is a key piece for many people. Commisso’s intends to hold a substantial meal travel during their November anniversary purchase to help fill Project Share’s shelves for the holiday period.
